Why You SHOULD Always Eat After 7 p.m.
This spring spent in quarantine I have packed on the L.B.s like a bear preparing for hibernation. The problem is, it’s summertime and I don’t need a layer for warmth, let alone any extra layers out here in the sticky south.
Since I took this time at home as an opportunity to work on growing my blog, I have used food as a energy source for those super late nights. The issue with this is, that I have turned to the wrong foods for this energy source and have definitely applied the wrong eating patterns to my life. Now I’m stuck with curves I didn’t even know I could attain, a sluggish overall vibe and an unhealthy way of coping with stress.
For me, being fit has everything to do with being mentally healthy and only half to do with the physical appeal. BUT what happens when you aren’t physically fit, is that doing even the simplest of tasks becomes a chore. And as a mom of three, I HAVE to be at my healthiest so I can be the best version of me.
I mean- I gotta be able to carrying a 30 pound toddler up the stairs without spending 15 minutes huffing + puffing trying to “recover”. Ya know?
After taking some small steps towards making the right health choices, such as getting enough sleep and drinking water first thing in the morning, I came across this book:
Always Eat After 7 PM: The Revolutionary Rule-Breaking Diet That Lets You Enjoy Huge Dinners, Desserts, and Indulgent Snacks—While Burning Fat Overnight
by Joel Marion
You read that correct; Always eat after 7 p.m. I’m not sure about you, but this kind of goes against everything I have ever heard. I mean, we’ve been traditionally taught to avoid carbs, have an early dinner, and never eat before bed. But the fact is, the latest scientific research shows us this earlier model is not the most ideal.
This is what really pulled me in, the author, Joel Marion states that research shows that the average person’s metabolic rate is no different during sleep than during the day. In short, your metabolism doesn’t slow down at night. Nor does your body store fat at the end of the day. Whether it’s 8 a.m. or 8 p.m. , you use food for energy the same way.
Well how about that. I get to eat a late night snack and stay fit?
Sign. Me. Up!
I love this outlook. It is not only refreshing but it is also something I can totally and fully commit to.
Based on surprising science, Always Eat After 7 PM debunks popular diet myths and offers an easy-to-follow plan that accelerates fat-burning and allows you to indulge in your most intense food cravings, i.e. eating the majority of your calories at night. It also suggests that late-night eating can curb calorie intake the next day. Oh really now?
Always Eat After 7 pm is a three-phase program that teaches you how to lose big by strategically eating when you are naturally the hungriest—in the evening. This may sound too good to be true, but let me assure you it is no gimmick. Instead, it’s all about making strategic and smart food swaps, while still eating your favorite foods.
Joel Marion’s Always Eat After 7 PM program makes dieting easy and eliminates 90% of the reasons for resistance.
Okay. So, I am in.
Over the next month, I will be sharing my experience of this book and how this diet is providing me the sustainable energy I need to chase these three kids around, among many other health benefits. I will post an update next week on my progress!
In the meantime, check out this video!
