Vasectomy Care Package Guide

After my many requests for this procedure to happen, my husband finally committed to the snip-snip. Yes mama’s, you know what I’m taking about. The most feared event by the average man- a vasectomy.

If you don’t already know what a vasectomy is, it’s “a surgical procedure to cut or seal the tubes that carry a man’s sperm to permanently prevent pregnancy.” It’s usually done under local anesthesia and takes about 15 minutes with minimal pain.

A far cry from the nine (err- 10) months it takes to create a human being in the female body, the massive changes that occur to that body in those months, and consequently the time + effort it takes to eject said human from the body, and then not to forget, the postcreating/birthing time spent, giving whatever is left of the body to then nurture said human.
Roughly about 2 years total with an immeasurable amount of pain…

BItter, you might think?
nahHh,
not. at. all.
(*insert eye roll here…)

With my husband being so brave to commit to such a short procedure, that involved two days of catered-bedrest ensuring isolated care of those sweet precious nuts, followed by a long and arduous journey of no relief for a whole week (nothing like 6 weeks or anything crazy like that). I felt as though I should shower him with a bit of love and compassion.
After all, we do get baby showers as the pregnant lady!
And considering how I felt after birthing our three children (one weighing 9 pounds) out of a hole smaller than a pea, I figured it was the only right thing to do.

And since our love language is heavily built upon a sarcastic foundation, I showed him this comfort and compassion, while also poking fun at the drama of it all.

Vasectomy Care Package

// How + most importantly; Why?

All joking aside, men are simple creatures but they have complex egos and every now and again, those egos need to be fed. Complex in the manner that, prior to this procedure they might not directly come out and say “Hey, ya know what? I am a little nervous about this, can we talk about it?” Instead, they might, I don’t know – get irrationally upset about the doors being open and lights on with no one home.

I feel like the care package acknowledges that what they did was scary and that’s okay. As well as, it lets them know that you appreciate them and what they had to do. BUT it also says, “broCome on…”

I made this Vasectomy Care Package with a cake box, a few easy prints from Etsy and a quick trip to Target.

// What to put in it??

Putting funny things in this Vasectomy Care Package, as well as items that he can actually use during his recovery time, will make this care package perfectly complete.
